Revealed Characteristics of God

By no means has this Teaching covered all characteristics of God. The aim of this teaching is to strengthen believers and kindle inner zeal to know God we serve. The devil has been using ignorance of body of Christ to misrepresent God! Devil is a liar! Don’t trust him as source of information about anything. God have revealed Himself in His word, the Bible. So I encourage you to study yourself deeper, and I believe Holy Spirit is faithful Teacher, to show you the whole truth. God bless you as you learn His true characteristics.

1. God nourishes and brings up His children.

Isaiah 1:2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

The word I have nourished is Hebrew gâdal which literally means

  • to cause to grow -[ (bring up) in various senses as body, mind ]
  • to make great, powerful – [ in Honor ]
  • to magnify – [ estate (rank/quality) ]

So God is responsible for physical growth of His children, He makes them greater and powerful. Is He also who magnifies them. So God is a very responsible Father! He cares and provides for the physical and spiritual need, our daily social welfares, positions and ranks. He is really caring Father.

The word translated brought up is the Hebrew word rûm which literally means

  • to raise or rear (children), cause to grow up
  • to lift up, raise, exalt – [promote, offer, take up]
  • to exalt, extol [exalt in commendation; to magnify. Webster’s 1828 dictionary ]

Again here we see that God, a very responsible father, always Brings up and nurture his children. He raises them up and promote them to the higher positions and magnify them. These are clearly manifested here, where LORD is contending with his children Israel who are irresponsible children. In spite of what he had done to them, they have forsaken Him.God always brings up and nourishes His children. That’s why He states clearly in

So As God cannot share Glory with anybody, He have also reserved this attribute or character for Himself! No man has this attitude. Trying to own this attribute is trying to be equal to

God, which is the character of the devil himself. Hence we are to take heed to God’s command of Not to revenge to anybody, no matter what they have done to us; More emphasis:

Leviticus 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

Matthew 5:43-44 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good tothem that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you

Romans 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.

Romans 12:19 – 21 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Deuteronomy 28:13 And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: This is clear God’s very characteristic toward His elect/Children

2. God can be provoked to anger

Isaiah 1:4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

The word provoke, means (Webster’s 1828 dictionary) To call into action; to arouse; to excite;

God can be aroused to anger through:

  • Sin [transgression of the divine law, or violation of a divine command],
  • Iniquity [Injustice; unrighteousness],
  • Evils [wickedness; corruption; perversions; wrong doings; mischief],
  • Corruptions [To vitiate or deprave; to change from good to bad.],
  • and all forms of rebellion which can be summarize by phrase “Forsaking the LORDThough LORD can be provoked to anger when we forsake His and his statutes. Though

He can be provoked to anger; He is Gracious, full of mercy and slow to anger. As written by psalmist Inspired by the Holy Ghost in:

Psalm 145:8The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger and of great mercy

It is clear here that God doesn’t rush into anger. He is very patient God, the God of another Chance! He gives us another chance to repent and turn unto him again. That is what He desires

Romans 2:2 – 4 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

So God’s forbearance [restrain willfully from bringing judgment], longsuffering [Bearing pains or provocation for a long time; patient; not easily provoked.] and riches of His goodness towards the sinner aims at leading him to repentance. From these contexts we can see clearly that our God can be provoked to anger, but he is patient, bears sufferings resulting from provocation; But why bearing all those sufferings? Simply because God’s goodness intends always to lead man into repentance! Yes! God can get angry, but He is slow to anger!

3.Our God is Holy God

Isaiah 1:4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

Joshua 24:19 – 20 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

Our God is sinless and perfect Supreme Being. He is pure and consistent in His ways! He is just and righteous God. He cannot contradict himself. His words are pure. He is pure God. Both word in Isaiah 1:4 and Joshua 24:20 translated as an Holy is the Hebrew word qâdôsh qâdôsh, meaning sacred, ceremonially and morally clean, hallowed. It is not easy to express God’s Holiness in words. He is HOLY God. His holiness demands penalty for every iniquity, he is too Justice to forgive any iniquity.

No any other being apart from our God can have both Mercy (treat an offender better than he deserves, pardon) and Holiness (which demand just and righteous judgment). They are things which, in normal logic and reasoning just can’t go together. He can have them both for He is God. It is Holiness of God that causes Him to anger at any iniquity, yet He is slower to anger. Serving strange Gods is intolerable before such Holy God that it demands the destruction penalty. God’s Holiness demands his children/elect to be Holy and perfect. God provides for them way of sanctification, and necessary grace to life by, so that there is no excuse for their sinful life.

Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

1Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

Leviticus 11:44 For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

God’s characteristics [including Holiness] separates Him from any other being. There is Only One sinless perfect being, our God. He is perfect father calling for His children to Holiness. He knows that we are not perfect, neither we are sinless (Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ). He has provided way to Holiness, only through Himself!

Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

Luke 1:74-75 That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

Holiness to an elect is compulsory for him to have direct relationship with this Holy God, who accept nothing less than Holiness! He has delivered from hands of the enemy and has declared our freedom from sin. He has given us his grace to live by and His blood to be cleansed by. We have been granted the comforter, helper, and teacher to help us live godly life. So our Father expect us to live life worthy for him. Remember God’s holiness demands penalty [just payment] for every sin!

Though He is great God, Omnipotent, He is not dictator! He is Just and patient God. He is not such God who is great tyranny sitting in heaven waiting for somebody to sin so that He can judge him. Neither He is great dictator enforcing everything out of given law. Our God is the law giver and He honor the laws He has set! He is such Good God inviting us to His throne, NOT to share his glory, but to reason together that He will provide to us as we humble before the great throne of Majesty King. Just take look of His word here and see how good he is.

Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Joshua 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood,or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

God is calling us and with love, He is showing us our sins, not with eye of judgment, but with hand of love, leading us to repentance. He clearly declares our future and lays it upon us to decide. He is not such a dictator to force us to do what he wants against our will.

Even though what we are doing isn’t right God still let us choose. He points to our rebellion and shows the right way with his lovely gentle voice saying that “though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” and warning us out of love that “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the“. Great King is calling us, to humbly go to his throne because mercy [unmerited favor], and grace [the free unmerited love and favor, and benefits] are ONLY found there! He is God that is never dictator! But he himself is love!

Isaiah 1:24 Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:Being patient, loving and merciful Father doesn’t make Him less than Sovereign God! He sovereignly chose to love us. He is Sovereign God!

The word Lord is ‘âdôn ‘âdôn [Adonai] which literally means:

  • Sovereign, i.e. Controller (Human or Divine)
  • Master, Lord, Owner

The word LORD of hosts is yehôvâh [Jehovah] tsâbâ’ tsebâ’âh [tsabaoth] with much breakdown:

  • Jehovah means: self Existent or eternal. [existing one]
  • Tsabaoth means: Army, soldiers, hosts

The word sovereign is more defined in Webster’s 1828 dictionary as:

  • Supreme in power; possessing supreme dominion;
  • Supreme; superior to all others; chief.
  • Supremely efficacious; superior to all others; predominant; effectual;
  • Supreme; pertaining to the first magistrate of a nation; as sovereign authority.

The word Mighty one is âbîyr which is used to describe God as Strong, and mighty.

Psalm 89:8 O LORD God of hosts, who is a strong LORD like unto thee? or to thy faithfulness round about thee? Psalm 89:11 The heavens are thine, the earth also is thine: as for the world and the fulness thereof, thou hast founded them.

Psalm 102:25 Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.

Our God is sovereign God. He is mighty, self existent and Eternal being, owner ,Origin, controller, ruler of the universe [heavens, Earth and all in them]. He is wonderful designer of the universe we enjoy! He is also the builder of the universe. He is great architecture of the universe (not according to freemasonry). His sovereignty is very clearly indicated, the way He created the universe. Genesis 1:3 “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light” No body or nothing, can command all things; be! And it become, unless being sovereign. Whole armies of heaven and earth are under His majestic commands. He created them and He holds final destiny for them.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 2:1 thus the heavens and the earth were finished and all the host of them.

The word Universe is simply defined as: The collective name of heaven and earth, and all that belongs to them; the whole system of created things. So the above verses, clearly summarizes that our God created the Universe. He is Great Creator of everything and source of every life. Nothing came by chance! All were designed and implemented by this sovereign Creator. He is one holding hanging Heavens and stars…to summarize; He holds universe by power of His word

Hebrews 1:2-3 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power

He is God! He needs no one to discuss with, nor does He need any advice as do men. He is Supreme, All knowing [Omniscient], All powerful [Omnipotent], All present [omnipresent] majesty of heavens and earth! People have tried to think what God is like. Others have gone further by gravening Him as an image. But all the times, they have been wrong. Look How He questions them:

Isaiah 40:13-17 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being his counsellor hath taught him? With whom took he counsel, and who instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding? Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, he taketh up the isles as a very little thing And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts thereof sufficient for a burnt offering. All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity. To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.Imagining such sovereign being in our limited minds, is wastage of time. Our knowledge is limited! Look what David said when he failed to understood ways of God”Psalm 139:6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it. “Some men, failing to admit that; have founded themselves worshipping creation instead of Creator. Evolution theory is clear evidence of Man’s failure to acknowledge that he cannot attain unto God’s ways [methods/knowledge].

God says in Isaiah: 55:8-59
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Simple question to ask is: How far is the Earth from Heavens? for sure, very far, “we cannot attain unto that distance” Then we cannot attain Knowledge of God either. Neither by celestial marriages, New Age Meditation and contacting spirits, nor by enlightment. By NO way we can either be equally knowledgeable as God NOR surpass His knowledge. But we can understand only what He reveals to us! Let see God’s response to his above questions in Isaiah 40:30-19:

Isaiah 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

Summary of who God is like! So God is the designer and builder of all things; Seen and unseen. He rules over them all; He has final say on them and holds their destiny. He is sovereign God!

We have seen that our God is sovereign and He own, controls and have final say on Everything! Again we see in the same context that God is the avenger of enemies. Let’s study the context in light of scriptures.

Isaiah 1:24 Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:

Here, firstly, God is introducing Himself as Jehovah Sabaoth; The LORD of hosts militancy name and Abiyr; Mighty one to show His infinity strength. But why God has to introduce Himself in such a way? It is clear that He wants us to know He can do anything over everything! He is sovereign. This is the first part of the verse: God has power to do anything over anybody or anything, any time at His will.

Let’s do word study of the second part of this context; The word “I will ease” is the Hebrew nâcham [naw-kham’] meaning:

  • To comfort one’s self, console oneself, be comforted,
  • Repent, by implication to be sorry. Repent means to lament one’s actions; turn again.[KJD], to change the course of providential dealings. [Webster’s 1828]

The same word nâcham used also in:

Genesis 5:29“And he called his name Noah, saying, this same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed”

Genesis 24:67 And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah’s tent, and took Rebekah, and she became his wife; and he loved her: and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.

Exodus 32:12 Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

The word “adversaries” is tsar tsâr [tsar, tsawr] which literally means: adversary, foe, enemy, oppressor. The same word is used in the following contexts also:

Genesis 14:20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

Joshua 5:13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?Psalm 78:42 They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.

Lastly, the word “avenge” is nâqam [naw-kam’] which literally means:

  • To punish
  • Take vengeance
  • Revenge

Nahum 1:2 God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.

Exodus 21:20 And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished.

Let’s then build our doctrine in God’s way and on His foundation. For Isaiah 28:9 – 10 teaches us how to do so: “Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:”

From there, we can now understand Isaiah 1:24 easily:

Isaiah 1:24 Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:

Means that God will change the course of His providential dealings, and turn against His enemies and revenge of sins and injustices. This character is exclusively attributed to God and only Him. We as his children are NOT allowed to revenge to anybody NO matter what they have done to us. God can be provoked to anger, but remember He is slow to anger! He gives sinners time to repent their sins and turn to Him. However when fullness of time comes, the LORD comforts Himself from longsuffering and forebearance He has for unrepentant through His justly revenge. He also holds a revenge for His elect or children.

Deuteronomy 32:42 – 43 I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy. Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.

2Kings 9:7 And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the LORD, at the hand of Jezebel.

Luke 18:7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: So God only holds revenge. World teaches people to revenge, films and dramas teaches revenge!

All Hollywood teaches is revenge! but God warns us with red light that Vengeance, revenge and avenge are attributes of Him and Him ONLY. Trying to avenge is trying to share Gods glory which is condemned by the word of God. Let’s see some warnings on the issue:

Romans 12:19 – 21 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. Trying to avenge is evil! Don’t buy a lie from Hollywood or any other source that preaches men

Vengeance, for Vengeance [Revenge, punishment] belong only to God.

Deuteronomy 32:35-36 To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste. For the LORD shall judge his people……

Psalm 94:1-2 O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance

belongeth, shew thyself. Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the

Isaiah 6:1-4 In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple. Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory. And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

Why many do today, sins without fear? Why do even Christians do ungodly thing with so many excuses? Why do some people tend to worship Images? Why do true Catholics worship Mary? Why do atheists believe there is no God? Why did Darwin attribute creation to exist by chance? And you may go on listing a lot of WHYs!

One thing is clear on the above context, they didn’t knew how awful God really is! They didn’t know that He is so greater that any man who encountered glimpses of His Glory [Not Him, just His glory], fell as dead! Daniel, on his encounter with Gabriel, the Archangel, John’s encounter with Angel of the LORD, Ezekiel’s vision at river Chebar, and John’s heaven visions give us a little but valuable picture of how great this God is. Note that No Man have ever seen God [John1:18, 1John 4:12], save Jesus, His only begotten Son! That’s why the explanation of all encounters is being expressed with word “Likeness”; which means like something but not exactly that thing!

Isaiah’s vision pictures God’s majestic look, sitting on Great throne! This is wonderful Throne of provision to His children who will humble before Him and The same Great white Throne, throne of Judgment to all those who reject God! God only sits on this throne. Isaiah doesn’t tell us how God look like, for he didn’t saw Him, but was granted to see how great and awesome God is. There are fearful made creatures, Seraphims Giving Him glory, and praise Holy one! Though they are awful described here, they still give Glory to God!

How much awesome God is if His creatures are that much fearful, and that He is infinitely higher than them? Look! Seraphims give Him praise as Holy and Mighty one [described by phrase: LORD of Hosts] You can wonder here, Seraphims, very Powerful creature than any Human being, acknowledges Lordship of God; but man denies it, being weaker than them! This clearly points to man’s ignorance to true characteristics and who God is! Isaiah was awe-stricken by this experience that He said “ Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.“[Isaiah 6:5] The word Undone [dâmâh] can be translated perished without changing meaning! So When Man discover greatness of God and His holiness, is when he knows is unclean [sinner] and see his doomed destiny hence need for help!

Here is another Man’s encounter with glory of God! Ezekiel, the prophet;

Ezekiel 1:1-6 Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God. In the fifth day of the month, this was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin’s captivity, The word of the LORD came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the LORD was there upon him. And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire. Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings.

Ezekiel is going on expressing his encounter with God the whole chapter! God, before instructed Ezekiel, He gave him visions of His Glory. If you read Ezekiel chapter 1 and chapter 10 you can see yourself how great God is. Again here we see another living creatures, Cherubim (Ezek 10:1), far Mighty than humans. Ezekiel describe them in wonderful way about these wonderful made creatures “And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of an host: when they stood, they let down their wings

Can you imagine! Just when they let down their wings, they make such noise! But they have decided to go wherever God’s throne went! They don’t stop proclaiming Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come(Rev 4:8)!What about wimpy man who tries to attain unity with God? What about “Worm of the earth” thinks that once God was a Man? What about Christians that use prayer to try to manipulate God? What about dust of the earth that thinks that they will, one day become gods! It is because they don’t know how true God, look like and how wimpy and unclean they are!

Until man knows who God really is, he will always think of Him as “he created him in his mind” It is time for people of God to stop creating their own gods in their minds and learn who true God is like! This is the key to live godly life. It is key to fear of Him and hence beginning of knowledge! This will encourage sharing with others and abolish fear and torments of the enemy. If you can perceive God rightly, then you will walk with Him in righteous and victorious walk!In the same chapter, Ezekiel saw “likeness of Man” on the throne! Let’s take a look on this verse:

Ezekiel 1:26-28 And above the firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. And I saw as the colour of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even downward, I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. As the appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of one that spake.

Though many don’t like to acknowledge this; but this is description of Jesus! Many deny Deity of Jesus, but God’s word is clear about it. I will have full teaching on this matter; but let us take simple, short look on this matter. But in whole journey don’t forget that Ezekiel is expressing “likeness of the glory of the LORD” where the word LORD here is Jehovah [yehôvâh], self existent and eternal God! Daniel visions also give us insight about the issue. Jesus, the Christ, is son of Man [son of David] and Son Of God!

Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Matthew 27:43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;We can now start exploring what God reveled to Daniel, about reigning Messiah, Son of Man;

Daniel 7:13-14 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

This is clear description of Rev 1:7 and Rev 19; where the conquering Messiah is coming in white horse for millenium reign. And this Messiah is the Word of God! From John 1 we know that Jesus is the word of God! Then this is referring to Jesus having eternal Dominion.

Daniel 2:44 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.
Here is confirmation that Jesus is God of heaven! Who will set everlasting Kingdom and
Kingdom shall not be left on the people. Another last proof for here, is who Ezekiel saw
seating on the throne [Jehovah] was the same, Jesus, John saw sitting on the same throne
confirming that Jesus is the God of heaven! Rev 4 is exact representation of Isaiah 6 and
Ezek 1, 10! But God Almighty here is Jesus!

Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Revelation 1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

Revelation 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

If you read your bible, you now know for sure Jesus is Son of Man and Son of God. He was full God at same Time full Man! So if you still need to learn on His deity, wait for my coming Teaching on that issue. Don’t forget what we were discussing here that our God is fearfully great and He is beyond what we can ever imagine. He is such awesome God that we need to respect Him. As Majesty creator and sustainer of the universe, and designer and creator of all species, don’t Him and Only Him deserve worship, reverent one? Of course He deserves! Who is man then to despise such great awesome God? Can you face Him on Judgment day! I beseech you that if you haven’t made Jesus your God, choose to believe Him today and meet Him as your Father and not as terrible Judge on the great day of the LORD!

Isaiah 7:3 Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller’s field;

Isaiah 7:4-7 And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah. Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying, Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal: Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.

All the times God is telling us to fear not and Hold our peace. His words are encouraging and never discourage! He is our encourager and Mighty fortress unto us. He constantly reminds us that the battle is His and not ours.

Exodus 14:13-14 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

From the above two context, God’s characteristic as our Fortress and Encourager is clearly manifested. Satan through children of disobedience or through his demonic spirits will always conspire against us, to destroy us. Praise is to God for His promise, for He says “It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass” Our Lovely Father and our Mighty fortress don’t end here. He further assures us that “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper [Isaiah 54:17]

What He is requiring from us is for us to take heed, be quiet and fear not! God have promised protection for all who love Him. LORD fights for His children. Remember He is responsible Father, more than any earthly father. He provides security to His child. You might be passing hard time and think God have left you to fight alone. You are wrong! The devil might try to show you circumstance and try to make you feel alone. God is with you. Look at these verses and know that he never leave you nor forsake you:

Isaiah 43:1-3 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

Wait a minute, you might say; but that is for ISRAEL? Yes, but as God created Israel, so He created us. As God have redeemed Israel, so he has redeemed us through redemptive work of Jesus at Calvary. As God have called Israel by name, He have called the Church by name; His body through Jesus! Then the verse applies to us also. Another good promise is John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Jesus is again showing us that whoever goes to God, is never forsaken. God’s promises are independent of circumstances and environments. God’s promises are never changed by environments but they rather change circumstances and environments! Praise God for His promises! What you need to do is to be His, by accepting Jesus as saviour and Lord in you life. As you humble yourself before God, He will surround you with unpenetrateable hedge and seal you as His, by the Holy Spirit

Our God is the only God among gods that proved to be faithfully in His promises! I assure you from His very word that whatever He said, it was and whatever He have said, it will be. Let’s take a tour to His unimaginable promise, which at time of promise, was like impossible-to-fulfill promise but Our God have proved to be faithful! This promise is visitation of God Almighty, the Messiah. This will be more covered in Endtime and Prophecy issues (Eschatology). But Let us see how faithful God is.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Micah 5:2 But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

Isaiah 53:9-10 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin,

he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Here we see Promise of God visitation and walk among us as Son born of virgin. This have been question by skeptics, God cannot become Man! If you are one of those, then have Bible study on Character number 5 on this page and see if you have right to decide what God can do and what He cannot do! Then Go to number 7 and see if what you believe is right! God is sovereign, and can do anything He wants to do in a way He choose to do it! So stop questioning sovereignty of God to choose and walk as Man.

This promise, of God walking among men, was like noon-dream, but God fulfilled it in person of Jesus. In this promise, there are two parts, suffering Messiah and Conquering Messiah! These denoted two different comings but of the same God, visiting men; Firstly to “be bruised and die as offering for sin” and then to be “ruler of the whole world [Rev 11:15]” whose Kingdom shall have no end [Isaiah 9:7] God have faithfully fulfilled this promise! Just look at this series of verses, you can see God’s Faithfulness in them

Luke 1:26-27 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.

Luke 1:30-35 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Wait a minute, let’s define more, the phrase “I know not a man” Means she had never had sexual relation with man hence she was virgin. So again Mary as all other human didn’t understand how somebody can bear a child without mating with man! The Angel explains the process which is beyond human science! But question here: Did God do it?

Matthew 1:18-19 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.

Matthew 1:20-21 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Yes, God did it! He said Mighty God will be born of virgin, and He did it! He is faithful. Let’s look more promises on this Messiah. God said that, through His angel, “thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” But how? Isaiah 53:9-10 gives us answer, by substitute death penalty. Did God fulfill this?

Luke 23:13-14 And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people, Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:

Luke 23:20-24 Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them. But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go. And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed. And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.

So Jesus was sentenced to death, while Judge had declared Him innocent! It was to fulfill all those promises of saviour messiah. The four Gospels are seal of God’s faithfulness to this promise! We will learn more on this subject in eschatology. I just wanted to kindle you to think twice about God’s infallible promises and how faithful He is. As result of this faithful promise, we have eternal life through work of Jesus at the cross. Yes God is faithful. Have He promised you something? Be sure that He is going to fulfill it in exact time!

Have you ever met situation where you need to explain Which God do you serve? Have you met a situation where you want to distinguish Jehovah as true God among Gods? Have you ever witnessed to somebody who believes all worlds serve one God? Here is Character that separates God of Christianity from ALL other Gods simply and plainly. If you want to define God of Christians, definition is found on 1John4:8 “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love” Everything that God do for us can be summed up to phrase “God is love” Simple proof that our God is love are found in scriptures

  • He died to save His enemies from everlasting doom

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Luke 23:33-34 And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

  • Whole law of God is teaches Love

Mat 22:36-40 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Leviticus 19:18 Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that

Whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

  • His Apostles taught God is Love

1Corinthians 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

[Note word charity here is agapē which means love used also in John 5:42]

James 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

1Peter 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

1John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

Jud 1:2 Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.

So from Above evidence we can surely confirm that God is love, and His word; The Bible is all about Love and full of love! Unfeigned true love of of God is found only in God Himself. Only through Jesus Christ, Man is renewed with ability to Love enemies! It is through Holy Spirit, man can love again with pure love.God still call Men towards His love in His Son Jesus! God have commended His Gift unto ALL men, Gift of eternal Life in Jesus Christ; will you receive it?

John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the World through him might be saved.
